This is the very first painting I created at 17, after my first and only art class in highschool. I had gifted this painting to a relative. Never framed and a little shabby around the edges, it's in fairly good condition, even though it survived a number of moves and I suspect that it probably never even made it onto a wall. It was on it's way to the dump about a year ago and another relative claimed and asked if I wanted it back. While I am sad that it was not loved or appreciated by it's original recipant, I will be forever grateful that it made it's way back to me, thirty three years later.
Serendipity! I think it's great. You were clearly meant to get it back and put it in this world wide gallery for us all to see :)
ReplyDeleteThat's your FIRST painting? That's incredible! Clearly, you're meant to be an artist!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the lovely comments, having this painting back is very special indeed.
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOSH, at 17? I'm speechless and humbled - glad you're here!
ReplyDeleteBeth, love the wineglasses. I did some a while back and loved doing it, but worried a lot about selling them and the careful washing they require. Worried the person will wash the paint right off - would love to know your experience with it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like my wineglasses. I use Enamel paints by plaid, made especially for glass. It is waterbased and non-toxic and after baking the glasses, first time made me nervous, but it was a piece of cake, the paint is permanent. They are dish washer safe after that, but I always recomment hand washing delicate glassware. So there you have it, you should give it a try. :)
ReplyDeletethat's pretty outstanding for a first painting. obviously, you have some natural talent! :)
